Dr. Simon Zwane was appointed by His Majesty King Mswati III to the position of Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Swaziland, on 1 April 2014.
Dr. Zwane is a member of the Advisory Bord of the African Centre for eHealth Excellence.
Dr. Zwane is a Medical Doctor by profession having qualified from the University of Zimbabwe. He then served as a general medical practitioner in Mbabane Government Hospital for three years before his appointment to be a Medical Superintendent in Mankayane Government Hospital, a regional hospital in the Kingdom.
Before his appointment as Principal Secretary, Dr. Zwane served as the Director of Health Services, a position that entails being a Chief Medical Advisor to the Government of Swaziland.
In his medical and administrative career he has been exposed to serving in different organisations as well as leading different committees and task teams in Swaziland and outside. He served for three years as Chairman of the Swaziland Nursing Council, Swaziland Medical and Dental Council, Chairman of the Scientific and Ethics Committee, a member of the Swaziland Standards Authority. Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Eastern Central and Southern Africa Health Community.
